Nightfall - A Defiant Guild on Byriel

Nightfall is one of the top guilds server-wide. Not only were we the first to reach Level 50 on our server, but we've also received credit for server firsts on every Expert Dungeon and most of the raid content we've cleared. We are striving for server-firsts on clearing all of Rift's end-game content both now and in future expansions.

As Promised, bye Estrode
9/1/11

As we promised, Estrode down! What an easy fight for a wing boss. We are more proud to say that after the instance reset, we cleared all 7 bosses in 4 hours, almost one-shotting every single boss. I would say we look forward to working on Grugonim for the remainder of the week, but I would be lying.

Recruitment is still open. If you are interested, check out our recruitment page.

&!#% You, King
8/29/11

Long overdue, Nightfall finally downed King Molinar last night. After a few weeks struggling to balance our roster and slowly chipping away at King, we finally got everything flowing smoothly last night.

We are looking very eagerly towards downing Estrode tonight and then only Grugonim will stand in our way between us and the upstairs!

Nightfall is still recruiting and we are looking for solid DPS. You can read more on our recruitment page.

East Wing Cleared
8/11/11

Sicaron was finally downed tonight on just 3 attempts. Sadly, we should have killed him on Tuesday night, but it was not feasible with only 19 players. As far as the mechanics of the fight were concerned, we would have killed him. Nonetheless, we were 4th in the world to down Sicaron and are now aiming our sights at King Molinar!

We are still looking for a Cleric or two to add to our roster. We expect you to be able to heal as both a Warden/Sent and blank-icar; as well as have enough Focus to DPS. If you are interested, please visit our Recruitment Page for more information.

Two More Down!
7/30/11

After working a bit on a few bosses over the past two nights, we finally decided to focus on Soulrender Zilas. After numerous hours and many sub-10% wipes, we finally put all of the pieces together and downed him early Friday night.

We then spent quite a few hours exploring the giant subterranean cavern on the way to Grugonim, discovering Optimus Prime along the way. After getting a feel for Grugonim, we then backtracked to kill the "mini boss", Vladmal Prime. Much to our dismay, we found out rather quickly that Mr. Prime is actually the exact opposite of a mini boss. Nonetheless, many hours later, we finally triumphed over the giant robot of death. It is very reassuring to know that he will be considered a full-blown boss come next week. More updates to come soon!

New Content!
7/28/11

We have been very eager for new content since we downed Alsbeth over 3 months ago. Last night, our wish was finally granted. With the gate of Hammerknell officially open, Nightfall was ready to go and immediately entered. It took us only 32 minutes to clear to Murdantix and down him. After that, we went straight for Matron Zamira and downed her within 2 hours of attempts.

We unfortunately cleared to the bugged-out Soulrender Zilas after that, only to find out he was bugged! After some attempts to figure out a strategy for Sicaron, we called it a night. We will be back tonight and will be looking to down at least 2 more bosses.

All in all, we are very pleased with Hammerknell. The boss fights so far have been challenging and there seems to be enough content to keep us busy for quite awhile. We just hope all of the kinks will be fixed within the first few days!

Greenscale's Blight and River of Souls Conquered!
6/11/11

There hasn't been much to report on in the past few months after clearing River of Souls. There also hasn't been much to do other than farming the raid instances! Thus, we have spent the last few weeks chipping away at both of the Conqueror achievements. On Tuesday night, 6/7, we claimed world seconds for both Conqueror: Greenscale's Blight and Conqueror: River of Souls - both within an hour of each other.

For our River of Souls Conqueror, we only needed 'No Power' off of Plutonus. Taking quite the different approach than Fires of Heaven, we accomplished this achievement easily with only 19 people. You can watch our video below to see how.

With Hammerknell a month or so away, we are consistenly pounding out the two raid instances each week to gear up in preparation. We also are still recruiting. We are mainly looking for a Rogue willing to both tank, DPS, or bard and overall DPS. We are pretty set on main tanks and healers. However, we would gladly accept any exceptional players. Please visit our recruitment page for more information.

Alsbeth the Discordant Defeated
4/19/11

On our second night of attempts, we quickly downed Alsbeth the Discordant! In a grueling 18 minute battle, we proved victorious and downed Regulos' gal pal. Although a bit long, we definately felt the encounter was fun and I personally rate it more enjoyable than Lord Greenscale's encounter. Overall, it appears that we were the 12th guild world-wide (and 7th in the US) to defeat Alsbeth. Additionally, we downed one boss inside the River of Souls for every night it was available. From my stand point, that is rather impressive and I would like to congratulate every one on doing a great job over the past four days!

While we wait for the release of Hammerknell, Greenscale's Blight and River of Souls will be on farm. We look forward to our weekly relics!

In the meantime, Nightfall is still looking to add Mages to our roster. Although, all exceptional players are encouraged to apply. Please see our recruitment page for more information.

Below is our Alsbeth the Discordant kill video. It is from our second kill on 4/26/11.

Herald Gaurath... Up'd?
4/18/11

Much to our dislike, Herald Gaurath suffered a massive stroke while in midair tonight. We believed we had figured out a working strategy and were well on our way to downing him the preferred method when he decided to give up, literally. Nonetheless, he died and we moved onto Alsbeth, who, so far, has been bug-free.

We are very pleased with the Alsbeth encounter. It's fairly chaotic and requires a high amount of healing, tanking, and DPS. We're pretty close on getting her encounter down and hope to do so Tuesday night. Overall, River of Souls has been a well-tuned instance. I just hope Trion fixes Herald Gaurath very soon.

Pluto Downed on Day Two
4/17/11

On our second night inside the River of Souls, we downed Plutonus the Immortal with a flawless attempt. If there ever was a perfect raid encounter thus far in Rift, Plutonus the Immortal is just about it. The only negative to the event is that it requires many wipes until you actually can figure out what to do. Once you have learned the fight from start to finish, it's just a matter of near perfect (or in our case, perfect) execution. A big grats to everyone present for a perfect kill with 41 seconds to spare before we hit the enrage timer.

With the rest of our night, we dabbled with Herald Gaurath. The dracholich is definately the hardest boss of River of Souls thus far. We look forward to spending the next few days figuring him out, downing him, and getting to Alsbeth. It's a relief to find difficult encounters after walking through Greenscale's Blight (once we had 20 bodies). Overall, we've been pretty impressed with the River of Souls raid instance and hope future content will only continue to improve.

First Expedition Into the River of Souls: Warmaster Downed
4/16/11

After a few weeks of farming Greenscale's Blight, we were finally treated with new content on Saturday. With the completion of the incredibly dramatic 18 minute World Event, River of Souls was unlocked and we immediately ventured inside.

It took us quite awhile to figure out a pattern to the trash, as it seemed like they threw a couple hundred mobs into a giant crater and told them to walk around in random directions. Eventually, we found our way to the first of the three mini-bosses: the Dark Focus. After a few attempts of figuring out the mechanics, we quickly destroyed it. Being a mini-boss, we were pretty satisfied with its level of difficulty.

Onwards we marched to the first boss, Warmaster Galenir. Again, after a few attempts to figure out the mechanics and after some time spent tweaking our strategy, he too fell rather quickly. As a first boss, he was about as expected. Unfortunately, our loot consisted of 3 Justicar pieces. At least Cereas was pleased (but Grapefruit was not):

We spent the remainder of the night downing the other 2 Dark Foci and working on Plutonis the Immortal. Having figured out his mechanics, we look forward to downing him Sunday night and moving on to Herald Gaurath.

Overall, River of Souls is a pretty solid instance. We didn't really run into any bugs or big hiccups. Our only complaint was the trash. Lots of it and it's all over the place. Lets just hope most of it won't respawn with a few bosses downed!

Lord Greenscale Server-First'd!
3/28/11

Lord Greenscale went down like a sack of potatoes tonight. After some late night testing with a handful of members, we came up with a strategy that, apparently, made Greenscale easy as... well... easy as a one-shotter.

The above took place after just a single attempt using a new strategy. A big congrats to everyone for bringing their A-game, focusing, and getting the job done like pro's.

With the fall of Greenscale, Nightfall became the 15th guild world-wide to down Lord Greenscale. However, unlike other guilds, we downed Greenscale bug-free and legit. I'd like to see other guilds' videos of their kills, but I'd prefer not to see Addiction's (lawl we killed 5 adds and Greenscale fell over, great vid).

For Byriel, we surpassed Avid, whom was on Greenscale 7 days ago when we still hadn't even killed Infiltrator (thanks, attendance). All we needed was a full raid and Greenscale's Blight was conquered in 6 days. Again, a big pat on the back for everyone who worked their ass off this past week.

We look forward to the River of Souls, whatever shape it may come in. As we do, we still are recruiting. We are mainly looking for DPS and one more solid healing Cleric. If you are interested, please visit our recruitment page.

Below is our entire video of our Greenscale server-first kill:

Prince Hylas Down
3/25/11

Prince Hylas downed after 2 days of attempts. We killed him on the 2nd attempt of our 2nd night on him. With Prince Hylas dead so fast, that meant we had all night to work on Greenscale. We made lots of progress on Greenscale and hope to down him very soon. Lord Greenscale is definately worthy of being called a boss. The first 4 bosses of Greenscale's Blight are very easy, but Lord Greenscale himself is definately challenging. We hope the next raid zone offers the same challenge throughout that Lord Greenscale does.

Nonetheless, the server-first kill of Greenscale is still unclaimed. We will be pushing as hard as we can to be the first on the shard to defeat Lord Greenscale.

At this time, we are currently seeking another healing Cleric and Mage DPS. If you are interested, please check out our recruitment page.

Infiltrator Johlen and Oracle Aleria Downed
3/23/11

It took just one night of attempts to down both Infiltrator Johlen and Oracle Aleria. Both events were fairly easy. We had a little trouble with Infiltrator figuring out a working strategy for the last phase. Oracle Aleria isn't even worth mentioning. After a brief 10-man attempt on Hylas, we look forward to figuring him out this week.

With Greenscale still not killed on Byriel, we will push our limits in an attempt to have the server first kill of Greenscale. One way or another, he most likely will die within the next few days.

We are still recruiting. We are mainly looking for DPS classes. You can view our recruitment information here.

Duke Letareus Downed With 14
3/18/11

After farming some more gear and refining some specs, we decided to head to Greenscale with a mere 14 people. The end result: Duke Letareus down on our 2nd attempt. Obviously, being able to be downed with 14 people, Duke was not very difficult. Having tested Infiltrator Johlen some, we unfortunately will need more people due to the very high DPS check required. So we still are recruiting; looking to fill out the remaining slots of our roster.

In addition, we also finally defeated the Water Raid Rift. In our last attempts (a few days ago), we failed on Wave 4 by 10 seconds with ~12 people. A few days later, we downed Wave 4 with 4 minutes to spare with 15 people. The difference a little gear makes!

We are now farming Raid Rifts weekly (about half a dozen to a dozen) and will now be farming Duke. Once we fill out a raid of 20, I'm sure Infiltrator Johlen and Oracle Aleria will soon follow.

If you are Level 50 and think you are Nightfall material, please visit our Recruitment section.
